iPads are opening up an entirely new dimension for education, and students at SCS are now able to take full advantage of their capabilities. SCS is integrating iPads into its educational practices in the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Objective:
Increase student learning by incorporating 21st Century technology in the classroom via the iPad.
Project Goal:
- To positively impact student learning in the following ways:
- Provide consistent access to technology for a fully integrated learning experience by providing each student with an iPad mobile learning device for use inside and outside the classroom
- Increase student motivation and engagement in learning
- Provide students with immediate feedback on learning
- Provide teachers with the ability for immediate and individualized learning assessments
- Allow for customized, individualized content to meet each student’s unique learning needs
- Increase collaboration among students and teachers resulting in improved achievement
- To significantly reduce textbook related expenses for SCS families & SCS
- To replace certain required devices such as calculators for math and science classes
- To provide an organized and consistent note-taking platform
- To provide an online research tool
- To provide a platform to facilitate individual and group work
- To provide a platform for video or audio copies of lectures
- To replace English and foreign language dictionaries and thesauruses
- Provide student-focused instruction that is multi-level (addressing varying academic levels), multi-sensory (addressing different modes of learning), and individualized (addressing individualized needs)
