Welcome and thank you for your interest in Southlands Christian Schools
We look forward to meeting you and getting to know your student! We are an accredited (WASC and ACSI) Christian school, and have been educating students for over 30 years.  Currently Southlands proudly educates nearly 400 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  Southlands has been authorized by the U.S. Government to issue I-20 forms since 2002.  Since that time, we have served over 300 international students in the areas of ELL and academic courses, always keeping in mind our goal of preparing students to graduate and go on to four-year colleges and universities.

Academics - Our High School program includes AP and Honors classes, as well as AP and PSAT testing.  Our students participate in SAT testing, Speech Meet, Spelling Bees, Math Olympics, Academic Pentathlon, choral and music festivals.

In Addition - 100% of SCS graduates receive College or University Acceptances. 70% of SCS graduates go to top 100 Universities. 40% go to University of California schools. The High School provides college counseling on the admission process, SAT exams, grants, personal statements, college courses, majors and interviewing.  The PSAT is administered to Advanced 8th grade through 11th grade students each fall.

Campus & Extra Curricular Activities - We are located in Walnut, California, just south of the 60 Freeway, at the Fairway exit. We offer a wide range of competitive sports (full-size Soccer / Football / Baseball field and full-size Gymnasium), several elective choices for secondary students (including award winning Choir) and after school extra curricular activities.  Our secondary students may participate in two full theatrical productions each year.  Our elementary students perform in two musical performances each year.  All grade levels have the opportunity to participate in field trips of various sizes throughout their school year.  For the convenience of our families, our campus includes a full service Library/Media Center available to students and parents, Computer Lab, Science Lab, Cafeteria serving fresh, hot meals, Child Care for younger students before and after school, and a Preschool.

English Language Program – All of our students may take advantage of our ESL assistance. We offer several ESL courses to help your student become more adept with the language.

The 2011-2012 School Year - Applications are now available. You may pick it up in the school office.  The office is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.to 4:00 p.m.

Applications are available on the website. See below.

Applying -Although the school year will not start until August 22, 2011, we strongly encourage you to start the enrollment process now.  Getting all the necessary documents together, getting the I-20 and applying for the F-1 Student Visa at the Embassy can take several weeks and in some cases, even months.

We have prepared a simple 3-step instruction sheet (called the “I-20 Instructions / Agreement”, which is included in the application package) to help you apply quickly and easily.  The student does not need to be in the U.S. in order to be accepted. Please note that as each grade level becomes full, all qualifying students will then be placed on a waiting list.   Also, please note that most international students repeat the same grade they were doing in their home country.  Our principal will advise on the grade placement according to each student’s birth date and transcript, always keeping in mind how best we can help each student complete his or her graduation requirements and successfully prepare for a four-year college or university.

Legal Guardians - Another important part of the process is choosing your student's legal guardian.  All International students must have a legal guardian who is either a US Citizen or Resident, even if their parents live in the U.S. most of the time.  The guardian is usually who we work with to get the application completed.  The guardians are permitted to complete all paperwork and sign where needed, except for the "Guardianship Form Letter", which must be completed by the parents and LEGALLY NOTARIZED (law offices worldwide can do this for you).  If you need a guardian, please see Host Families below.

Host Families - (Homestay) If you would like assistance finding an American host family, please see the flyer in the application packet. Once your student is accepted, you may request our referral service and they will connect you to potential host families.  If you need a legal guardian, some homestay families are available for that service as well.

Student Requirements – To maintain enrollment once a student starts school, all students must be living with an adult at all times, must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and must adhere to all school policies, including attendance and behavior rules.
