The Southlands Difference

Southlands Christian Middle School offers students a safe and engaging environment to be the unique individual God has designed them to be. Individuality can easily be expressed during our many spirit weeks, while school pride can be shown each Friday when students participate in a School Spirit Day. Clubs, small groups, and chapels all provide a place for students to connect with each other. These forums also provide opportunities for student leaders to emerge. Associated Student Body (ASB) offers students an opportunity to demonstrate servant leadership while learning basic governmental procedures. Field trips give students a way to extend their learning beyond the classroom and experience sites, concepts, and ideas they won’t readily be able to access from a textbook.

Clubs and Activities

Three days are spent in the beatiful Calvary Chapel Christian Camp, where students discover God’s plan for the year. Activities include a lake with the ever-popular “blob,” archery, chapel time, scavenger hunts, and so much more.
A week-long camp located near Joshua Tree National Park, Ironwood Christian Camp offers leadership training intended for 7th graders and exploration camp for 6th graders. Activities include zip lines, swimming, numerous camp games, hatchet throwing, rifle shooting, horseback riding, and chapel.
During the same week as Ironwood, 8th graders visit our nation’s capital and tour some of the most historic landmarks in U.S. history. Places visited in the past include the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, The White House, Arlington Cemetery, National Cathedral, and Smithsonian Museums.
Middle Schoolers get to spend a day skydiving indoors at iFLY Ontario! This is a great chance for them to hang out with each other after a long week of ACT testing.
Small groups are a way for students to connect with God and their peers in a more personal setting. While Bible classes and chapel are offered, small groups provide a setting for questions to be answered more in depth and lifelong relationships to be formed.
Chapel occurs once a week and includes musical worship, activities, and topical Bible lessons taught in a way that makes sense to Middle School students. Opportunities to join the student worship team are available.
A program aimed at rewarding positive behavior, Eagle Feathers are coupons that students earn by demonstrating the character traits of excellence, honesty, integrity, and loyalty. Each Eagle Feather earned is entered into a weekly raffle at chapel.
Southlands’ Associated Student Body is comprised of qualified student leaders who work together with administration to continue the high level of excellence within the school .Values like communication, hard work, and spiritual leadership are discussed and nurtured while helping plan school events, spirit days, and field trips.
