Building Character, Unity, and Faith Through Sports

At Southlands Christian Schools, our athletics program is rooted in faith and character. Guided by the leadership of our dedicated Athletics Directors, we strive to train young men and women of integrity who honor God both on and off the field. Our athletics and enrichment opportunities take students out of the classroom and place them in a socially rich environment,  stimulating relationship and team building skills. Our program foster personal growth  and character development. Together, our athletics programs aim to inspire a #Buyin mentality where humility, unity, and faith lead the way—always for His glory and purpose.

Message from the High School Athletics Director

"Our MISSION is to Train Men and Women of Integrity in the Lord. Our VISION is to Win CIF Championships with the utmost character. Our Vision and Mission go hand in hand and are accomplished by our core values, which we call the “5 C’s.” 1. Commitment 2. Consistency 3. Courage 4. Communication 5. Compassion

All of the 5 C’s are important, and all serve a role in helping our student-athletes meet the mission and vision outlined above. However, compassion (love) is the most important. We believe in showing that love by humbly displaying a #Buyin mentality. The heart of #BUYIN stems from Philippians 2:3, which says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves.” When you think about Jesus humbly stepping down from heaven to die for His creation, we as Christians are called to have that same mind and heart of HUMILITY.  We believe that HUMILITY is contagious and creates a UNITY that can build a team, family, business culture, or even a friendship. After unity has been created… STAND BACK and watch GOD move! Psalm 133:1, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers/sisters dwell in unity!” For us as believers, we believe that we will receive a blessing from the Lord… that doesn’t mean wins on a court/field necessarily, or for everything to work out the way we want it to. We believe that people who have a heart to “BUYIN” will look back and see/believe that God was “working everything out for good…” not for our glory, but for HIS purpose and glory."  -Ted Marvel

Message from the Middle School Athletics Director

Our athletics program is Christ-centered and we look to honor God through athletics with the gifts he’s given us. Furthermore, we seek to have student athletes who value the classroom first and understand that athletics is a privilege. I would like to encourage all students and parents to become a part of our middle school athletics program. I am thankful, as middle school athletic director, to serve you and the community as we seek to have a quality athletics department.  -Matthew Carbajal
